Tottenham Hotspur have been searching for a manager for months now since sacking Antonio Conte in March and they have been linked with several managers.
As things stand, it looks like the search will continue for a bit longer after one of their top targets Arne Slot came out to shut down any rumours of him joining the London club.
Reports have been flying left right and centre in the past couple of days saying Slot is close to filling the permanent managerial slot at Tottenham to take over from Ryan Mason who was hired on an interim basis but all these rumours have now been put to bed.
According to Sky Sports, Slot has denied ever holding any transfer conversations to join Tottenham next season and he is staying at Feyenoord.
“I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other clubs’ interest in me. Although I am thankful my wish is to stay at Feyenoord and continue working on what we created last year,” Slot said in a statement.
“There is not – and there has not – been transfer conversation and yesterday’s meeting [with Feyenoord] was exclusively for an extension. All talks with the club have always been only in that sense. Looking forward to next season with Feyenoord.” Slot clarified his position.
The Dutchman led Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title since 2017 and it is understandable why Tottenham were after him, since they haven’t won any trophy in 15 years, their last silverware being the League (now Carabao) Cup in 2008.
Slot joins Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Burnley’s Vincent Kompany to snub Tottenham. The search continues.
