Both Raheem Sterling and Taiwo Awoniyi netted braces for their respective sides as Chelsea shared spoils with Nottingham Forest in a Premier League game played on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Awoniyi gave Forest the lead in the first half but Sterling scored twice early on in the second half to turn the game around for Chelsea. Awonyi then headed in before the end of the game to level matters and make sure his side left the bridge with a valuable point.
Forest started off the brightest and got their goal early in the 12th minutes as Awoniyi rose highest to beat off Eduordo Mendy and both Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile to head in a well delivered Renan Lodi cross.
After going a goal down, the Blues improved on their play and created a couple of chances to level matters as soon as possible.
Sterling and Lewis Hall had their left-footed shots denied before Joao Felix was acrobatically denied by Kelyor Navas after an excellent Hall cross from the left.
The game went into the break with Forest leading 1-0, and they nearly got the second just after the break, but Moussa Niakhate volleyed wide after Fellipe had won the first header.
Instantly afterwards, the scores got level after Trevor Chalobah and Noni Madueke exchanged passes down the right to allow the former to fire in a low cross into the box, which fell at the feet of Sterling. The English forward saw his shot deflect off Ryan Yate and looped above Navas and into the back of the net.
Few moments later, Felix could have put Chelsea ahead, but his header which looked to be goal bound hit his teammate Badiashile and went out.
Just seven minutes after putting Chelsea level, Sterling curlied in a second after receiving a ball from Ruben Loftus-Cheek to calmly sit inside and shot.
However, Chelsea’s lead never lasted long as Awoniyi was found in the right place in the box to head past a helpless Mendy from close range to level matters.
After the introduction of Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz, the Blues pushed hard for the winner late on, but Forest defended deep and well to deny all Chelsea’s attacks.
In the next games, Chelsea will play Champions Manchester City while Forest will play title-chasing Arsenal.
