In pursuit of more trophies this ongoing season, Manchester City fullback Kyle Walker has stressed that the City dugout has no room for excuses.
The fullback said this shortly after signing a new two-year contract extension at Man City which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
Having won a treble last season and 15 major trophies in the last six seasons, the England international thinks City’s organizational setup gives the players everything they need to succeed.
“We have no excuses. Everything that we have here, the facilities, the chefs, the kitmen, the nutritionists, it’s all top.
“So if they’re providing what they can do or at their very best it gives us no excuse not to go out and perform at our very best. There’s no excuses.
“And we should demand that from us as a group of players. We know that this club and this organisation has brought in the very best at what they do.
Since Walker’s arrival at the Etihad stadium in 2017, Pep Guardiola’s side has been the most successful side in England – winning five Premier Leagues, four League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, a UEFA Super Cup and the Champions League trophy.
Despite winning all those major trophies, Walker says they still have that hunger to achieve something special again this season especially with the new additions
“The lads have got that hunger again to go and achieve something really special again this season, fingers crossed. We’ve set the bar and each year it’s how do we get better than the previous season.
“I feel that it was a great transfer window for us as we got the positions and the players in the right area that we needed to continue competing.”
City are currently onsong in the English Premier League as they have garnered maximum points (12) in their opening four games.
