SSC Napoli were crowned Italian Seria A winners on Thursday night after a 1-all draw with Udinese to clinch the first Scudetto in 33 years.
Victor Osimhen, who scored the crucial equalizer that confirmed Napoli’s champion’s status has been crucial for the club’s wonderful season, scoring 22 goals in 27 matches, more than any other player in the Serie A.
It is no secret that top European clubs have shown their admiration for the 24-year-old Nigeria international in an effort to reinforce their own attacks come next season.
Such clubs include Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea who have starved of a serial goal-scorer this season.
However, Napoli Chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted the club will not sell their star player when the transfer window opens this summer and hope to keep him in Naples for as long as possible.
“I will not sell Victor Osimhen this summer – no way!” De Laurentiis declared while appearing on Rai Sport show Cinque Minuti.
De Laurentiis has owned Napoli since 2004 and he has built several squads to challenge for domestic and continental silverware over the years until this year when his current squad led by Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Min-jae Kim, and Stanislav Lobotka put up blistering performances to lift the long desired Italian Serie A.
Now that he has tasted success, he would like to get more of it in the coming seasons and keeping his important players is key to achieving that.
Osimhen is valued upwards of £100 million but since his contract with Napoli still runs up until 2025, the club can ask as much as £150 million from any club that wants to secure his signature on current form.
