Bernardo Silva termed Manchester City’s 3-0 victory against rivals Manchester United on Sunday as the club’s best ever performance at Old Trafford.
In a dominant display, Erling Haaland opened the scoring from the spot in the first half, before his second, a brilliant header off Silva’s cross in the second half.
The third came with 10 minutes left on the clock courtesy of Phil Foden, who tapped in Haaland’s cross beyond Onana.
Silva, who was named the player of the match following his brilliant midfield display, was overjoyed by the victory.
“Definitely one of the best wins here,” Silva said. Especially away from home. At home it is a little bit easier, because the crowd is with us, they get us in our momentum, they create the energy for us.
“To win here 3-0, with this crowd, I think it’s one of the best performances we’ve done in the past.
“When we come to these types of places, Anfield, Old Trafford, we know what teams are waiting for. For us to lose the ball and counter.
“It’s all about the build up, not losing the simple balls, controlling the game and being slow in the first metres of our half, in goal kicks and in our half of the pitch and when we break through, be quick and attack.
“That’s what we did really well in the second half. So happy with the performance. So happy with the three points. It’s never easy to come here and beat this team.
Despite the win, City dropped to third in the league with 24 points. They are level on points with Arsenal, but two points below leaders Tottenham Hotspur.
Silva and City will be back in action on Saturday when they play Bournemouth.
