Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has revealed the reason as to why he joined the club in the summer of 2021 from Aston Villa.
According to the English International, being part of a game like this weekend’s UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan is the reason he came to City.
“This is the exact reason that I came to City,” Grealish told Manchester City official website. To play in a Champions League final and have played such a big part in everything this year in the league and FA Cup too.
“It’s what you dream of when you’re a youngster growing up and even five or six years ago it was what I was dreaming of. So to go and do it in a final with this group of guys now is a privilege and a dream come true.”
Grealish has featured in all City’s 12 UCL games, making one assist and creating more chances than anyone else in the competition. He has featured in 49 games in all competitions, scoring five times and helping his teammates 11 times.
The 27-year old has so far won three major trophies since he joined the club in 2021. After having already won both the Premier League and FA Cup, Grealish has a chance of helping City secure a historical treble if they can beat Inter on Saturday.
If they do so, they will become the second English side to win a treble after their city rivals, Manchester United achieved that in 1998/99 season under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson.
