Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag has challenged his side to get over the line in the race for a top-four spot despite Sunday’s setback at the London Stadium against West Ham United.
Having lost against Brighton 1-0 on Thursday, the Red Devils lost by the same score line to the Hammers on Sunday evening following David De Gea’s error which resulted into Said Benrahma goal.
That result means the Red Devils are now just a point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool although Jurgen Klopp’s side have played a game more.
“Nothing changed, only we could have made it [securing a top-four place] easier when you have a win.” Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference.
“We need three wins in four games, so everything is in our hands and we have to believe.”
“But it’s not about Liverpool, it’s about us, because look to the table and we have everything in our hands.
“If we bring our performance, if we bring our standards then we will win games, so we don’t have to look to others – we have to look to ourselves and find a way to win and find a way to get back to our levels.”
United will play Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham in their last four games and will need to win atleast three to secure qualification.
Only Bournemouth’s game is on the road where the Red Devils have been awful this season. They have lost eight games away from home this season- the most they have lost in a single Premier League season.
Their main qualification rivals, Liverpool have Leicester, Aston Villa and Southampton.
