Erik Ten Hag was left thrilled with the way his Manchester United side defeated Crystal Palace in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
The Red Devils comfortably beat the London side 3-0 at Old Trafford courtesy of Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial’s strikes.
Garnacho and Casemiro’s goals came before the break, while Martial sealed the victory for United earlier on in the second half.
This victory meant that United recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season in all competitions for their 1-0 league win over Burnley on Saturday.
“Oh, it’s a good night, as you said.” Ten Hag affirmed. “And I think we played quite well and dominated the game. So that was what we were looking for.
“But I also said disappointment and frustration [from the losses]. But the mood is then dropping. The spirit was always good, togetherness was always there and is there. And you could also see that today.
“And we make a step forward in Burnley, how we defend, how we do that, and togetherness today on the ball and we make another step. So still a lot to come, but we are making [progress] and we are moving forward.”
Ten Hag will be hoping that his troops replicate this superb performance this weekend when the two sides meet again at Old Trafford in a Premier League game.
The Red Devils currently sit in the eighth position in the league with eight points after having lost three of their first six games this season.
