Mikel Arteta is adamant his Arsenal side will ‘score a lot of goals’ against Liverpool when the two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Arsenal have come under huge criticism for failing to sign a striker in the recently concluded January transfer window.
The Arsenal forwards have also had the criticism come their way, and their performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup third round that the Gunners ended up losing 2-0 after their forwards missing host of chances last month didn’t help matters.
The Gunners have however, scored seven goals in their last two games, and Arteta is confident his players will make it rain on Sunday.
Asked if failure to score goals and win on Sunday would lead to regrets, Arteta replied: “And if we win tomorrow (Sunday) and we score a lot of goals?
“I think like this: I love my players and I think tomorrow they are going to score goals and they are going to be top. They fully deserve all of our credit because of the way they are.
“We are scoring goals in different ways over the last two weeks, which is great to see. The team has to dominate every aspect of the game if we are going to be up there.
“We are conceding less than last season, we are generating more. Those margins have to be reflected in the scoreline, that’s what matters.”
Arteta’s team is currently placed third in the table standings with 46 points, five below Liverpool who lead the table standings.
The Gunners have in total scored 44 leagu goals, seven less than both Liverpool and Manchester City and three less than Tottenham Hotspur.
They have conceded 21, only Liverpool has conceded less with 19.
