Wesley Fofana struck early in the second half as Chelsea ended their search for three points in the Premier Leaguea.
The Blues who had not tasted victory in their last five games came into the game seeking victory and they started on the front foot creating the first chance of the game.
Fofana headed wide from Ben Chilwell’s corner kick delivery in the 11th minute, and it was not to be for Chelsea. Four minutes later, Kai Havertz was put through by Raheem Sterling before racing clear on goal, but Leeds custodian Meslier rose to the occasion to keep out the German’s attempted loop.
The hosts continued their attack on the at the Whites this time with Joao Felix initiating the move. He passed right to Sterling, but the former Liverpool and Man City winger thumped the return pass against the woodwork in the 21st minute.
Enzo Fernandez also had his effort from 20 yards safely handled by Meslier as the Blues desperately searched for a breakthrough.
The visitors gradually grew into the game, but missed half chances from Brenden Aaronso and Junior due to erratic finishing ensured the first half ended goalles.
On return, Sterling missed another glorious opportunity when Felix’ s neat pass was blocked but loftus Cheek’s cross for Sterling should’ve opened the scoring, but he missed from close range in the 46 the minute.
Fofana then got the all important lone goal in the 52 nd minute following Chilwell’s corner kick.
It was a goal that ended Graham Potter’s side’s search for victory in five Premier League games. While Chelsea stays 10th, the result is one that will surely hand them confidence as they try to earn a European spot.
