West Ham beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-1 to go to the top of the Premier League table, at least momentarily.
Goals from new signing James Ward-Prowse in the 19th minute, Jarrod Bowen in the 58th and Michail Antonio in the 63 minute were enough to hand West Ham the first Premier League victory over Brighton in their history.

West Ham did well to neutralise their attacking play, especially by limiting Kaoru Mitoma’s movement and time on the ball. When they got their chances, they made sure they scored, although they could have had more goals on the evening had Antonio and Bowen converted their other chances.
Brighton dominated the match and had a number of chances through Evan Fergusson and Joel Veltman but West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was equal to the challenges.
The 30-year-old made seven crucial saves that helped West Ham take all three points from the Amex stadium. The Hammers have a chance of ending the matchday atop the table if Manchester City and Liverpool fail to win their matches tomorrow.
