Following the break that had the FA Cup action, the English Premier League returns this weekend with various aspects to look forward to including crucial games as the anxiety for the title quest intensifies.
With the transfer window now closed, top clubs especially Chelsea who have spent the most amount of money ($350m) in the January transfer window have bolstered their squads. One of those signings include a British-record-breaking-signing of 22-year-old Argentine midfielder,Enzo Fernandez who came for £106.9m from Benfica.
Added to that, the signatures of Joao Felix, a versatile and skillful Portuguese winger on loan from Atletico Madrid and French defender Benoit Badiashile were secured. The 21-year-old was acquired to back up the porous backline.
Talented youngsters in striker David Fofana, 18-year-old midfielder Andrey Santos from Brazil, U-21 France international right back Malo Gusto, Ukrainian gifted winger Mykhailo Mudryk and U-21 England international Noni Madueke are the other additions at the Stamford Bridge.
With the inclusion of such fresh talent, the blues will be excused for being excited and perhaps raring to go. However, they might want to go slow as their summer signings including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling among others are yet to make any substantial impact.
But given the fact that the club is faced with a long list of injured players including N’golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, Ben Chiwell, Reece James among others, it provides the new signings with an opportunity to prove thier worth.
Chelsea will face Fulham on Friday with only one win in their last five league games. Despite their worrying form, Graham Porter’s troops have an upper hand in this as Fulham themselves have lost two in a row.
The new acquisitions should bring fresh energy to the Blues’ dressing room, but the question on table is, can they inspire the blues to glory?
