Chelsea have bolstered their attacking options by signing youngster Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
The 21-year old, who becomes the 13th player to move to the Stamford Bridge this summer has signed a seven-year deal with an option of an extra year.
Palmer will cost Chelsea an initial £40m with a further £5m in add-ons. This signing is a boost for Mauricio Pochettino, who has been pushing to sign any attacking player who plays across all forward positions since losing Christopher Nkunku to a long-term knee injury last month.
“I’m excited to get started and it feels great to sign,” said Palmer after putting pen to paper.
“I’ve joined Chelsea because the project here sounds good and because of the platform I will have to try to showcase my talents. It is a young and hungry squad and, hopefully, we can do something special here.”
This brings an end to Palmer’s 15 years stay at Manchester City where he progressed through the academy to play for City’s senior side. He was part of the City’s side that won the historical treble last season.
This season, he leaves City after having netted in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup against Arsenal and Sevilla FC respectively.
This summer still, he played a pivotal role in England’s Under-21s winning the European Championship in Georgia and Israel
