Bernardo Silva extended his contract with Manchester City by a year on Wednesday that will now see him at the club untill 2025.
After putting his signature to paper, the Portugal international sat down for an interview with Sky Sports to talk about a range of issues, including the club’s future goals after winning the treble last season.
Silva, who has been part of the Manchester City squad that has won five Premier League titles in six seasons, said that people seem to be taking that amazing feat for granted so they want to try to achieve what has never been achieved by any club in the league: Winning it four times in a row.
“It’s been a dream in terms of what we achieve, in terms of the prospects of what we can still do. Six years where we won five Premier Leagues, one Champions League and all the Cups, I couldn’t have imagined better, to be honest.” Silva said.
Silva also thinks all the trophies they have won in the previous six years make Manchester City one of the best.
“From what I remember when you see a team that wins five in six and that now has won the Champions League, which everyone was saying was the missing piece, that makes us probably one of the best for sure, if not the best,” Silva continued in the interview
Manchester City now have a new target of making even more history by winning the Premier League four times in a row.
“And we heard that that’s four in a row in the Premier League was never done before, so we want to try that because it is so tough. People take it for granted because we won five in six, but it’s so, so tough every year.”
Manchester City joined city rivals Manchester United as the only clubs to win the treble, as well as winning the Premier League three times in a row.
