Former AC Milan player and legend Gennaro Gattuso has liken Milan’s target Yunus Musah to Frank Kessie.
Kessie played for the Italian side between 2017 and 2022 and he is now featuring for Spanish La Liga Champions FC Barcelona.
Gattuso made this remark while speaking to Corrirre dello Sport via TMW when asked for his thoughts on the American international.
“He reminds me of the Frank Kessie of before. First of all, he is a good boy, then he has great strength in his legs. My advice is this: you have to wait for him. I consider him a great buy.”
Musah played under Gattuso last season at Valencia, before the Italian got sacked just six months after he was appointed in the Summer.
After impressing for the Spanish side, the youngster is now increasingly likely to look for new greener pastures elsewhere in the next few weeks, and Milan is one of the teams that have expressed interest.
According to reports, Milan are now discussing the terms of a deal with Valencia, and they hope to pay around €20m including add-ons for the 20-year old midfielder.
Other clubs, like English Premier League sides Fulham, West ham and Chelsea are also interested in the American.
Last season, Musah featured in 37 games across all competitions for the Spanish side and provided two assists across 2358 minutes of action.
Before joining Valencia in 2020, Musah had spent seven years at Arsenal’s youth system. He has since made over 100 appearances for the club and has 27 international caps under his belt.
He was one of the best USA players at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar – starting all four games, ranking second in the USA squad for tackles per game, fifth for interceptions per game and sixth for key passes per game, displaying his attributes across both defensive and attacking metrics.
